3-Alarm Fire With Entrapments on Baron Park Lane

Update 10:13 p.m.

Patch spoke with fire Chief Steve Yetman who said crews are currently checking the building for extensions of the fire in walls and ceilings.

It appears as if the fire started in a second floor apartment and spread to neighboring units and onto the third floor of the 40 unit apartment building, Yetman said.

One person was transported to the hospital. At this time we do not know the extent of any injuries or that person's condition. Three people in total were rescued by ladder.

There was a big response and multiple fire departments from neighboring communities assisted.

Burlington Fire's fire prevention officer is on scene and the State Fire Marshall is en route to assist in determining a cause.

Update 10 p.m.:

The fire appears knocked down. Fire crews with masks and tools are entering the building. Scene is mostly calm.

There is a large fire department response on scene.

There is smoke showing from the building but no visible flames from the front.

Emergency crews are responding to a fire in an apartment building on Baron Park lane, according to scanner and Twitter reports.

According to reports the three-alarm fire is at Baron Park Apartments, 8 Baron Park Lane. There are reports of a heavy fire in the building with multiple people trapped inside. Rescue operations are underway.

At this time there is no word on injuries.
