Updated: Two Injured in Serious Mall Road Accident

Burlington Police tweeted that there has been an accident on Mall Road that is causing traffic delays.

Captain John Corbatt of the Burlington Fire Department told Patch that two people were transported to Lahey Clinic following this afternoon's accident on Mall Road.

Corbatt said the accident involved two vehicles and the injured parties were both in the same vehicle. The occupant of the second vehicle was not injured.

Corbatt said he did not have the details to the extent of the injuries suffered by those transported to the hospital.

Finally, the rumors circulated on Twitter that a pedestrian may have been involved are false, Corbatt said.

Burlington Patch has learned that the scene on Mall Road is mostly cleared and that the police detail has left.

There were also reports on Twitter that the accident may have involved a pedestrian as well. We will update the story when more information is available.

Burlington Police are suggesting motorists traveling in town avoid Mall Road for the time being as emergency crews respond to a serious motor vehicle accident.

The Burlington Police Department tweeted at 2:26 p.m. today that there has been a motor vehicle crash at 25 Mall Road. A serious injury has been reported.

Police stated people should avoid Mall Road as traffic is backing up and emergency crews need space to move.
