Police: Missing Woman Found Half-Mile from Assisted Living Facility

The Burlington Police Department has issued an update on this morning's search for a missing woman.

The Burlington Police Department has issued a statement updating the public on this morning's succesful search for a 70-year-old woman with mild dimensia who was reported missing from the Sunrise Assisted Living Facility.

According to police, on January 11, 2013 at 5:32 a.m. the Burlington Police Department received a telephone call from the Sunrise Assisted Living Facility located at 24 Mall Road regarding a missing elderly woman. Initial reports stated that the 70 year old female suffered from mild dementia and had last been seen at 5 a.m.

Burlington Police Officers responded to the assisted living facility and began a search of the building and the area surrounding the facility, the release continues. The Burlington K-9 Unit along with K-9 Units from Billerica and Concord were also called in to assist in searching the wooded areas. Patrol units from Woburn, Bedford, and the Massachusetts State Police along with the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing assisted in locating the missing party.

At 7:50 a.m. the elderly female was found approximately one half mile away in a wooded area behind the Marriott Hotel located at 1 Mall Road. The missing party was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical personnel from the Burlington Fire Department. She was subsequently transported to the Lahey Clinic for treatment.
