Updated: Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Accident on Cambridge Street

Driver is being charged with operating under the influence.

A pedestrian hit by a car on Cambridge Street Sunday night has succumbed to his injuries, police said.

At approximately 8:10 p.m. Sunday, emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on Cambridge Street near Olympian Way, according to the .

The victim, identified this morning by the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office as Daniel Jalbert, 51, of Burlington, was transported to Lahey Clinic. Jalbert died this morning from injuries sustained in the accident.

The driver of the motor vehicle has been identified as Anthony Manfredi, 48, of Dracut. Manfredi was arrested and charged at the scene with operating under the influence of alcohol and will be arraigned in Woburn District Court today, according to the District Attorney's office.

During an arraignment at Woburn District Court Monday, the District Attorney's office stated that following the accident Manfredi blew a 0.26 in a Breathalyzer test, over three times the legal limit.

Manfredi was held on a $5,000 cash bond and is expected to appear in court next month, the DA's office stated. NECN reports the charge is expected to be upgraded to motor vehicle homicide.
