NTSB Investigating Cause of Plane Crash that Killed 7

National Transportation Safety Board Officials are handling the investigation into what caused a Gulfstream IV jet to crash on takeoff and burst into flames at Hanscom Field Saturday night killing seven. 

In a short press conference Sunday morning, Massport officials said the bodies of those who were killed have not been removed from the wreckage and the NTSB will handle the recovery.

Officials have still not officially released the identities of all those killed in Saturday night’s crash. 

But it has been confirmed that Lewis Katz, co-owner of The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Daily News and Philly.com, was one of the seven people killed in the crash. The paper reported on its website that Katz's death was confirmed by Inquirer editor Bill Marimow Sunday morning.

Flights are being diverted from Hanscom and Massport officials say Hanscom will likely be closed until the NTSB concludes its investigation into the crash. Logan will be handling some of those diverted flights.

Massport officials also confirming Clean Harbors is on scene helping with cleanup efforts. The concern is fuel from that plane crash could possibly make its way into the Shawsheen River. Multiple Clean Harbors vehicles are visible at the crash site Sunday morning. They were there overnight, as well.
