Marathon Bombing Suspect's Gun Tied to Maine Gang

Tamerlan Tsarnaev used the gun to kill police officer Sean Collier and seriously injure another cop.

The pistol that Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev used to kill one police officer and seriously injure another reportedly came from a Maine gang.

The black Ruger P95 was purchased at a Cabela's in Scarborough, Maine in 2011, according to the Los Angeles Times. The gun then ended up in the hands of a Portland gang member Biniam Tsegai, who goes by "Icy." Tsegai is currently in jail on drug dealing and robbery charges.

It was unclear exactly how the gun made its way from Tsegai to Tsarnaev, McClatchey reported.

Tsarnaev used the gun to kill MIT police officer Sean Collier and seriously injure Richard Donohue, a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority officer, on the night of April 18, 2013 in Watertown during a manhunt. Tsarnaev was eventually shot to death. His brother, Dzhokhar, is scheduled to go on trial in November.
