Man Arrested for Motor Vehicle Violations, Men Purchase $2K in Items With Fraudulent Card

Burlington Police logs for July 19 to 21.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, July 19

  • At 1:01 p.m. a caller at Lahey Clinic reported that a tree was down over Mall Road. An employee of a tree cutting company was cutting down a pine tree when the wind pushed it over into the road. The tree landed on the room of a passing Acura. No injuries reported. 
  • At 6:03 p.m. a caller on Winn Street reported seeing a person in a gray colored Camry throw a white bag out of the window, possibly onto someone's lawn. 
  • At 6:32 p.m. a caller from Wyman Street requested police contact the owner of Pizza Days and inform them one of their delivery people was driving fast through the neighborhood. Police spoke to the owner who said he would speak to the deliveryman. 
  • At 8:09 p.m. a Seven Springs Lane caller reported that a person called and left a message regarding a federal warrant. The call appeared to be a scam. Police advised caller not to return call or give out any personal information. 
Saturday, July 20 
  • At 11 a.m. a Rahway Road caller reported that at about 9 a.m. a motor vehicle drove through his fence. Police spoke to the parties involved who agreed to hand it on their own since they are neighbors. 
  • At 11:59 a.m. a caller on Francis Wyman Drive reported someone vandalized her motor vehicle. 
  • At 2:08 p.m. police arrested Matthew Avalon Cleary, 28, of 29 Cathy Road, Chelmsford, on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense) and on a warrant from another agency. 
  • At 4:32 p.m. a caller at Seven Springs Lane reported that her vehicle was broken into an a laptop was stolen. 
  • At 5:02 p.m. police issued a summons to a Lynn man on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order. Summonsed issued after a woman came to the station to report a restraining order violation. 
  • At 8:13 p.m. Lord & Taylor loss prevention reported that at 12:30 p.m. the day before someone stole $1,500 worth of merchandise. 
Sunday, July 21 
  • At 1:26 p.m. Nordstrom loss prevention reported two Asian males entered the store and purchased $2,000 worth of goods with a fraudulent credit card. The men left in a blue Hyundai Sonata driven by a third male.
