Man Arrested for Assault and Battery, Wallet Stolen by Distraction

Burlington Police logs from August 27 to 28.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, August 27- 

  • At 2:38 a.m. a Wilmington Road caller reported a group of youths ripped a street sign out of the ground. Police checked the area but the youths were gone. 
  • At 8:24 a.m. a caller at the Marriott Hotel reported that her rental car was damaged while parked overnight. Minor damage to rear bumper. 
  • At 11:50 a.m. a manager at Claire's Accessories reported detaining a female shoplifter who allegedly tried to steal $22 in merchandise. Woman was trespassed from the store. 
  • At 11:58 a.m. a caller at the TD Bank at 7 Executive Park reported her tire was slashed while the vehicle was parked. 
  • At 12:21 p.m. police arrested Daniel Semencic, 26, of 527 Dogwood Avenue, Hempsted, New York, on a charge of assault and battery. Arrest made after a report of a domestic dispute. 
  • At 2:26 pm. a caller reported that his friend's brother received a call that he was being held hostage. This is a scam that has been reported in the area recently. 
  • At 4:58 p.m. police arrested Christalle Norkum, 34, of 1107 Bridge St., Apartment 5, Lowell, on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense) and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Police also issued a summons to the registered owner, a Dracut man, on charges of operating an unregistered motor vehicle (subsequent offense), operating an unregistered motor vehicle (subsequent offense) and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. 
  • At 8:26 p.m. a Carey Avenue caller alleged his ex-girlfriend had forged his name on checks and stole his car for the purpose of selling it. He said he also found an unidentified substance that he believes to be a drug. 
Wednesday, August 28- 
  • At 2:57 p.m. a caller at Market Basket reported her wallet was stolen from her purse while she was shopping. Video shows three males, possibly Hispanic, distracting her and stealing the wallet. 
  • At 6:03 p.m. a woman came to the station to make a complaint about her mechanic. She said her mechanic would not tell her where her vehicle was and that a loaner he gave her was impounded by the State Police. Police called the mechanic who said the car was in storage in Watertown. The caller made arrangements to pick up the vehicle.
