Loss Prevention Officer Allegedly Punched During Shoplifting Incident

Burlington Police Department log entries from July 3 to July 7.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, July 3

  • At 11:23 a.m. the manager of Cheesecake Factory reported an employee assaulted another employee. A woman who worked at the restaurant assaulted another female employee while she was being terminated. The suspect was contacted and informed that she was trespassing when on Cheesecake Factory or Burlington Mall property. She verbally agreed and the incident is under investigation. 
  • At 6:27 p.m. a caller from Rima's Pantry reported a patron appeared to be intoxicated in the store, and then he rode away on a bicycle. The man fell off of his bike in Wilmington and was transported to the hospital.
Thursday, July 4
  • At 1:14 p.m. a Mill Street resident reported his mailbox was hit by a car the night before. The post was knocked out of the ground during the incident.
  • At 6:06 p.m. police were called to a domestic incident in progress. The involved parties were not in Burlington. Police in Tewksbury confirmed the involved parties were in their town and they responded to the scene.
  • At 9:05 p.m. and over the next several hours officers were called to a variety of calls for illegal fireworks.
  • At 10:50 p.m. dispatch received a call for an erratic operator on Wilmington Road. Police arrested Dana K. Lobo, 57, of 17 Hawthorne Terrace, North Reading, for marked lanes violation and operating under the influence of liquor, third offense.
Friday, July 5
  • At 8:01 a.m. a Cutting Lane resident reported that her car was egged overnight and there are fireworks in her yard.
  • At 12:59 p.m. police received a call for a possible attempted breaking and entering on Old Colony Road.
  • At 1:18 p.m. a man reported that his 1984 Honda motorcycle was stolen from his yard. 
  • At 5:09 p.m. Macy's reported a past theft and assault of a loss prevention officer. The reporting party said that a hispanic man wearing sunglasses, a tank top, shorts was joined by a hispanic woman wearing a tank top as they attempted to steal various items from the store. When approached, the man allegedly punched the loss prevention officer several times. The items were recovered and the suspects left in a gray Honda.
Saturday, July 6
  • At 7:25 p.m. a man reported his motor vehicle was broken into in the Burlington Mall parking lot. Shoes, boots, blouses, shirts, a GPS and charger, and custom jewelry were reported taken sometime after 4 p.m.
  • At 4:21 p.m. loss prevention at Macy's reported seeing three female shoplifters. Mercedes Duran, 59, of 122 Devon Street Apt. 5, Dorchester, was arrested and charged with larceny over $250.
