Large Amount of Copper Allegedly Stolen Construction Site

Burlington Police Department log entries from July 12 to July 14.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, July 12

  • At 7:14 a.m. a Wayside Road resident said copper was stolen last night from the construction site. About $6,000 worth of copper was taken from inside the building between 4 p.m. on July 11 and 6 a.m. on July 12.
  • At 10:29 a.m. two women were arguing on Terry Ave. with each one feeling they had the right of way on Winn Street. The situation was settled.
  • At 11:33 a.m. a Lahey security reported a woman outside of the emergency room yelling at people coming into the hospital. A tax transport was arranged for the woman to Mass General Hospital.
  • At 3:55 p.m. a man said his wallet was stolen from the locker room of Empire Sport Club at about 2 p.m. today.
Saturday, July 13
  • At 9:11 a.m. a caller on Hemlock Lane reported that a dog attacked his dog while he was walking it. The resident was advised to contact the Animal Control Officer.
  • At 9:29 a.m. a resident on Laurie Lane reported that someone threw eggs at her house sometime after midnight.
  • At 1:13 p.m. a caller from St. Margaret's Parish said a person put his child in the charity bin and they are removing items that were donated. The officer responding to the church said no one is near the bin and he believes it is physically impossible to gain entry into the bin.
Sunday, July 14
  • At 8:08 a.m. a resident on Thomas Street reported that her car had construction tape on it. Someone placed a parking come on the trunk of her car.
  • At 2:24 p.m. a reporting party came to the station to report that her wallet was stolen out of her purse while she was shopping at Trader Joe's.
  • At 3:21 p.m. a mother reported that a man took over her son's bathroom stall at Market Basket and told him to "beat it." The man was identified and nor criminal complaints were filed.
  • At 7:15 p.m. on Wellesley Ave., a resident reported that between 7 and 8 p.m., the rear passenger side window was smash and a wallet was stolen from her car.
  • At 8:46 p.m. police stopped a car for driving 70 MPH in a 35 MPH zone on Cambridge Street. Robert E. Verrier, 61, of 1 Church Lane, Burlington, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, second offense.
  • At 11:58 p.m. mall security reported that a man was in Uno's after trespassing from mall property. Mark W. Taylor, 35, of 21 Hampden Ave., Burlington, was arrested and charged with trespassing.
