Kings Bowl Owner: We Will Rebuild

A huge fire damaged the bowling and dining venue Sunday night.

The owner of the Burlington Kings Bowl said the venue will be rebuilt after a huge blaze broke out Sunday night.

The bowling and dining venue had been scheduled to open April 28 in the 3rd Ave retail hub. Owner Patrick Lyons said he now hopes to open it within a year.

The two-alarm fire heavily damaged the structure; parts of it collapsed. The cause of the blaze was still under investigation Monday, according to Fire Chief Steve Yetman.

"We are thankful to the Burlington Fire Department along with other local departments for their rapid response and we are most thankful that no one was hurt," Lyons said in a statement. "We want to thank everyone for their outpouring support and kind words and gestures."

It took firefighters from Burlington and a half-dozen surrounding communities about two hours to bring the blaze under control. At one point, firefighters were ordered out of the building because parts of the structure were about to collapse.

Kings has already been involved in the Burlington community—it was scheduled to host the Burlington High School post-graduation party June 8.
