Construction Debris Breaks Car Window, Shoplifters Summonsed

Burlington Police logs for July 17 to 18.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, July 17 

  • At 1:36 a.m. police noticed a vehicle parked at St. Margaret's Parish. They ran the plates and learned it was reported stolen out of Brockton. 
  • At 5:56 a.m. police issued a summons to an East Boston man on charges of failing to stop/yield and operating a motor vehicle without a license. 
  • At 2:24 p.m. a Georgia Drive resident reported being scammed out of $4,328 in a scam the IRS. 
  • At 2:55 p.m. police responded to the Sunglass Hut in the Burlington Mall to speak to a manager. The manager said an employee had been placed on suspension pending a formal investigation for fraudulent cash returns in the amount of $4,000. 
  • At 5:09 p.m. an Abercrombie & Fitch Kids manager reported a female stole merchandise after making a return. Manager said the woman took four skirts valued at $40. 
Thursday, July 18 
  • At 9 a.m. a caller from University Avenue reported that someone smashed the windshield of her vehicle overnight. The vehicle was parked on the side of the street. 
  • At 2:24 p.m. police responded to Farms Drive to oversee the exchange of paperwork following a "very minor" two car motor vehicle accident. While a man and woman were exchanging information the man began yelling at the woman and called her a lier and used vulgarities in her direction. He also said she "was in a whole lot of trouble." Police advised the man to calm down but he kept caller the woman names. Eventually he did calm down and the transaction was completed. 
  • At 2:32 p.m. a detail officer at the corner of Mall Road and South Bedford Street reported that construction debris hit the window of a vehicle. A piece of pipe fell from a bulldozer and smashed a the window, spraying glass on a passenger. No injuries reported. 
  • At 3:09 p.m. police issued a summons to a Burlington man on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, unregistered use of a motor vehicle, miscellaneous equipment violation and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. 
  • At 8:45 p.m. a Lord & Taylor loss prevention officer reported detaining two female shoplifters who allegedly tried to steal $575 worth of merchandise. Bot the women were issued summons for larceny over $250. 
  • At 9:05 p.m. police arrested Marie Bilello, 65, of 545 Centre St., Apartment 604, Jamaica Plain, on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and on a warrant from another agency. 
  • At 11:17 p.m. an employee at Domino's Pizza reported that a white male wearing a black tee shirt, red hat and a backpack walked into the store, grabbed a drink and walked out. She said that when she asked him to pay he told her to shut up before leaving. Police unable to locate.
