Burlington Police Hosting Citizen's Police Academy

The free 10-week class is for residents 55 and older.

The following is a release from the Burlington Police Department:

Chief Michael Kent and the men and women of the Burlington Police Department would like to invite you to get an inside look at your police department and experience what it is like to be a police officer.

This 10 session live classroom training is being offered for free to Burlington residents age 55 and older.

Students will learn about:

  • Massachusetts Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure
  • Firearms and Defensive Tactics
  • SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics)
  • Crime Prevention
  • Terrorism and Emergency Preparedness
  • Domestic Violence
  • OUI (Operating Under the Influence)
  • Police Technology

Where: Burlington Police Department

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Academy Runs from Thursday Nov. 8 until Thursday Dec. 13th.

There will be 10 classes with no class on Thanksgiving.
