Burlington Police Cruiser Involved in Rollover Crash

A sport utility vehicle also involved in the crash flipped on its roof.

A Burlington police cruiser en route to a burglar alarm was involved in a crash with a sport utility vehicle Wednesday night.

The crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. near Cambridge and Nelson Streets. Robert Aloisi, the officer who was driving the cruiser, and the driver of the SUV were injured but expected to be OK.

Police did not immediately say what may have caused the crash, as an investigation was ongoing.

In a statement, police said Aloisi had the cruiser's lights and siren activated at the time of the crash. He was driving northbound on Cambridge Street when he collided with a 2011 Subaru Outback. The name of the other driver was not released.

The Subaru flipped on its roof.

Police said Aloisi was responded to an alarm at Rockland Trust. The alarm was accidentally set off by contractors working in the building, police said.
