Detectives from several communities participated in the drug sweep.

By Marc Fortier

Thirty people were arrested – including a Burlington man – in a massive heroin raid in Lawrence on Thursday.

According to The Eagle-Tribune, detectives from Salem, NH, and numerous Massachusetts communities, including Methuen, Lawrence, Andover, North Andover and Haverhill participated in the sweep, along with the FBI, Massachusetts State Police and the Essex County Sheriff's Department.

Peter Carter, 29, of 5 Guild Road, Burlington, was arrested and charged with knowingly being present where heroin is kept and four warrants.

A series of heroin overdoses have been reported recently in Salem, Portsmouth and Salisbury, MA. One of those people later died. Police have said the overdoses could be linked to a lethal batch of heroin out of Lawrence.
