Burlington Firefighters Knock Down Blaze Early Sunday Morning

The fire began at around 4:30 a.m.

Burlington firefighters knocked down a house fire at 20 Cary Avenue that began at around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, according to the Burlington Fire Department. 

Nobody was injured, according to the fire department. The Red Cross was called to respond to the scene to assist two adults and three children impact by the fire. 

American Red Cross Communications Director Kat Powers said on Sunday that the agency assisted a number of people affected by the fire. 

"American Red Cross volunteers assisted four adults and two children at the Carey Avenue fire," Powers said in a statement. "Volunteers were able to provide emergency shelter, which in this case is a hotel stay. Volunteers also provided a emergency recovery funds for food and clothing. The five individuals were also given comfort kits, which are gender specific toiletries to help them with their first day under a new roof tonight."
