Burlington Emergency Personnel Revive Father Found Without Heartbeat in Parking Lot

The call came in about 7:45 a.m. Thursday.

A Burlington police officer and EMTs revived a father-of-two Thursday morning found unconscious and unresponsive in a parking lot off the Middlesex Turnpike.

A call came in about 7:45 a.m. that a man in his 40s was down in the parking lot at 35 Network Drive, according to a department release.

Officer Ryan Griffin, who had been on duty since midnight, ran to his cruiser at the station and rushed to the scene. Griffin found the man, who had gone into cardiac arrest, not breathing and without a heartbeat. He performed CPR until EMTs arrived.

“Without a doubt, Officer Griffin saved this man’s life,” Burlington Police Chief Michael Kent said in a statement. “Officer Griffin’s actions above and beyond the call of duty and calmness in the face of an extremely critical situation are nothing short of heroic.”

EMTs shocked the man three times on the way to Lahey Hospital, where he arrived with a heartbeat.
