Obituary: Beloved Family Man John J. Casey, Jr

The following is an obituary from Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home

John J. Casey, Jr., a retired Contract Analyst, passed away on Friday afternoon, December 6, 2013. John was born and raised in Brighton. He was the son of the late John and Johanna Casey. John was a graduate of St. Columbkille High School. He went on to further his education with a Bachelors Degree from Boston College and his Masters Degree in Business from Northeastern University. John worked as a Contract Analyst for the Department of Defense for over 32 years. During those years, he spent much of his time overseeing defense contracts with Raytheon in Andover. 

John was a private, quiet person whose life revolved around his family. He enjoyed the peacefulness of working in his vegetable garden. He was a big College and Professional football fan. He and his wife traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean, with Hawaii and Aruba being some of his most favorite destinations. He was a member of the Burlington Knights of Columbus. John also spent 18 years volunteering at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. John and his wife Patricia settled in Burlington to raise their 4 children. For John it was not material items that brought him happiness, rather being with his wife of 42 years, raising his children, and seeing his grandchildren that made his life complete.

John was the loving husband of Patricia A. (Richardson) Casey. He was the loving father of John J. Casey, III & his wife Kile of Herndon, VA, Donna Pleasants & her husband William of Plantation FL, Michelle Yachnin & her husband David of Andover and Nicole DeBonet & her husband Jeremy of Southboro. He was the brother of Catherine Luccio of Palm Beach, FL. John was the proud grandfather of Lindsay Michael, Caitlyn Pleasants, Barbara & Casey Yachnin and Sebastian DeBonet. 

John’s family is deeply grateful for the care and compassion given to him by the staff at Academy Manor in Andover. 

A Funeral Mass Celebrating John’s life will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
