Reps Make Friendly Wager on Football Game

Representatives Ken Gordon (D-Bedford) and Paul Brodeur (D-Melrose) have agreed to a friendly wager on tonight’s MIAA Division 3 Northwest Quarterfinal playoff game between Melrose and Burlington at Fred Green Field in Melrose. Should Burlington win, Representative Brodeur will donate a box of books to a Burlington food pantry for distribution to families.  If Melrose wins, Representative Gordon will donate a box of books to Representative Brodeur’s book drive, which is collecting books to be made available at pantries in the 32nd Middlesex District.  In addition, the losing Representative will display the winning town’s flag in his State House office on Wednesday.

“This friendly wager guarantees a great result even in the unlikely event that Burlington gets by Melrose,” said Representative Brodeur.

Added Gordon:  “I am happy with arrangement no matter how it turns out, and I am confident that I will learn on Monday what the good representative from Melrose has been reading lately.”
