Representative Gordon Helps Bring Enough Abuse Campaign to Burlington

State Representative Kenneth Gordon, along with concerned citizens, is helping to bring the Enough Abuse Campaign to Burlington. The Enough Abuse Campaign, headed by Massachusetts Citizens for Children - “MassKids”, has been working since 2002 to build a movement of concerned citizens across our state who are actively working to address this preventable form of child abuse. Supported initially by a 5-year grant from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), today Enough Abuse:

  • helps build local coalitions committed to ending child sexual abuse;
  • provides comprehensive, high quality trainings for vetted volunteers who then deliver free education to parents, youth and professionals across the community;
  • assists youth-serving organizations to strengthen their policies and practices so that children and teens can be safe in those settings; and
  • educates citizens about legislative proposals aimed at holding abuser accountable, giving victims justice and preventing future abuse.

The initial meeting of community leaders will take place at Burlington American Legion Hall on July 19th from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM.   The agenda will include a presentation from MassKids director Jetta Bernier who will detail the Campaign’s goals and strategies and how our communities can join with the growing number of Massachusetts cities and towns who have adopted the Campaign and are spearheading prevention effort at the local level.

Representative Gordon welcomes all who would like to join this important effort. Please contact Robert Peterson at Robert.Peterson@mahouse.gov, or call by phone at 617-722-2014, if you would like to get involved. Learn more about Enough Abuse by visiting www.enoughabause.org. Rep Gordon looks forward to working with MassKids and the Burlington community to ensure the right of all our children to a safe and healthy childhood – one free from the devastating effects of child sexual abuse.
