Burlington Players to be Recognized at State House

The Burlington Players community theater group has been invited by State Representative Ken Gordon to the State House July 23 at 10:30 a.m. to be honored as winners of the Best Production in the Nation from the American Association of Community Theaters last month.

Rep. Gordon, along with State Senator Ken Donnelly, will present a Resolution signed by the Speaker of the House and several other legislative leaders, and will join with state officers at a reception in the Burlington Players’ honor.  The Burlington Players are a volunteer theater group composed of adults from across the Commonwealth.  Its production of “Radium Girls” was judged best in the country at the AACT Festival in Carmel, Inc.

The production, written by D.W. Gregory, is based on the origins of worker compensation laws in the United States. Prior to attending the National Theater Festival, the Burlington Players were also awarded Best Production at both the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theater’s (EMACT) Festival and the New England Regional Festival.
