The Fionda Committee is pleased to announce that Dave Fionda will be meeting with voters on Friday August 3, 2012 at the Bedford Council on Aging Luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Dave Fionda is a Democrat running a write-in campaign to replace Representative Charley Murphy, who recently announced he would be retiring from the legislature.

“I am looking forward discussing the issues that concern the voters of Bedford,” said Fionda. “I firmly believe that public service should be about putting people first and setting politics aside.”

Dave will bring his lifelong dedication to helping others to Beacon Hill. In addition to having been an elected town meeting member for two terms, he has been appointed to several town boards, including the Land Use Committee, and the Informational Services Advisory Committee. Dave is also a Rotarian, single parent, coach, successful small business owner and entrepreneur.

“I believe that our nation’s seniors are our most valuable resource,” Fionda said. “As a state representative, I will work tirelessly to lower the financial burden on our district’s senior citizens.”

Since Charley’s announcement was beyond the June 1st date for candidate withdrawals, he will remain the only candidate on the ballot for the September 6th primary. Should Representative Murphy “win” the September 6 primary, he will then send a letter to the Secretary of State saying that he will not serve.  By rule, the Democratic Town Committees of the three towns in the District, Bedford, Burlington and Wilmington, will meet and caucus. They will them decide who will be the Democratic nominee in the November 6 general election.
