Holiday Closings and New Year's Weather

What's the weather going to be like for New Year's Eve?

We will be ringing in 2014 this week. 

The weather for New Year's Eve looks like it will be a bit cold for partying. During the day on Tuesday it will be partly sunny with a high near 24 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. New Year's Eve night will be cold with a low around 14 and wind gusts as high as 22 miles per hour. New Year's Day will be mostly sunny with a high near 23 degrees. 

Burlington town offices will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and remain closed through Wednesday. 

Here's a list of other establishments and whether they will be open or closed on New Year's Day: 

  • Banks: Closed
  • Recycling and Transfer Station: Closed
  • Senior Center: Closed
  • Schools: Closed
  • Library: Closed
  • Restaurants: Open at owners' discretion
  • Retail stores: Open at owners' discretion
  • Liquor stores: Open
  • Post Office: Closed
  • Gas stations: Open
  • Movie theaters: Open
  • Supermarkets: Open at owner's discretion
