Donate Food for Thanksgiving Drive

Help those in need with a food donation this Sunday.

Donate food to help those in need have a great Thanksgiving meal.

People Helping People is holding a big Thanksgiving food distribution this Sunday afternoon at the United Church of Christ at 6 Lexington Street.

The Rotary donates turkeys and the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts donate all the pies. Local grocery stores and some corporations also donate, especially the fresh vegetables, a note from Janet Knudsen of People Helping People states.

This year we will distribute food to about 200 needy families in Burlington.

If you'd like to donate food you can do so Sunday morning before the 10:30 a.m. worship or at noon following the service.

Items they are looking for in the Thanksgiving drive include:
Stuffing in bags or boxes
Chicken broth in cans or boxes
Cans of corn
Cans or jars of gravy
Jars of mayonnaise
Cans of cranberry sauce

Please note that they will not take food that is passed its expiration date.

Food donations can also be made all year long at the Burlington Food Pantry, next to St. Mark's Church at 10 St. Mark's Road, Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

People Helping People also runs the Wish Tree at the upper level of the Burlington Mall. People can pick up a gift wish for a child in need and purchase a toy for the Holidays.
