Transition with the Seasons through Vinyasa

With the summer coming to a close, it's time to look forward to crisp fall air, fall harvest festivals and the changing of leaves to shades of red, orange and brown. It's not uncommon for exercise regimens to change in the summer; some may strive harder to stay in shape while others prefer to sleep through morning classes, taking a casual approach to their summer routine. Either way, Roots Yoga in Burlington is ready to help you transition into the coming season with a surefire flow, otherwise known as Vinyasa, that will help you get you back in synch.

Translated from Sanskrit, Vinyasa means "connecting", or synchronizing movement with breath. Attention is placed on the breath and the voyage between each asana (pose), with the breath being the vehicle that will guide you through challenging or rigorous flows. In short, vinyasa is all about pairing movement with breath. You use inhalations and exhalations to guide you through the flow of the class.

Diverse in nature, vinyasa claims no tradition or teacher as its main source. Every yoga practitioner will develop their own style and flow, which makes it a great form of individual expression. Some have even referred to vinyasa as a dance like flow. The pairing of breath with movement stimulates the body, mind, and spirit. You'll leave class feeling invigorated, while at the same time calm, centered and grounded.
