Take off Pounds Sensibly TOPS

For over sixty years, TOPS has helped millions of people

Take Off Pounds Sensibly and ensured they can them off with our unique system
of peer support and recognition. Over 425 tons of weight were shed by TOPS
members during 2012 across the country. Unlike other “for-profit

weight-loss companies, TOPS is nonprofit organization, charging only $28 per person for yearly
dues. Individual chapters may also charge very small weekly dues (usually about
$1-$2 per member) to cover
use of meeting space, the costs of awards, and incidental supplies.

TOPS headquarters gives each chapter the tools necessary to
conduct an informative weekly meeting , including programs and educational
materials. Ongoing support is provided to each and every member to ensure weight
loss is within reach.. Members also receive our TOPS News magazine and have access to many free tools on our
website,www.tops.org TOPS chapters meet weekly
and are facilitated by volunteer officers elected within the group.  In addition to an easy-to-follow outline for
a year of meetings, chapter leaders receive ideas for fun activities to address
issues related to nutrition, realistic goal-setting, physical activity, and
behavior modification. This, combined with weekly weigh-ins and encouragement
from others, helps people develop the knowledge, patience, and self-esteem they
need to make permanent, healthy lifestyle changes.

A recent university study published in Obesity, the official journal of The Obesity Society, shows TOPS is
just as effective as the for-profit weight loss groups that are expensive and
time-consuming. We challenge you to test this theory for yourself!
