TADS is an organization
that actively advocates for mental wellness for young people and their mission
is to raise awareness about mental health issues in our society, especially
depression and anxiety, and in so doing, help to prevent suicide. Steve and Deb
will share their knowledge and personal experience, which includes the loss of
their son, Jeffrey.

“I see
providing people with adequate mental health care to be a matter of justice,
not unlike civil rights, marriage rights, and economic justice. … Inspired by our different
faiths and our common values, we believe education is the key to prevention and
that the best way to prevent suicide is through the early recognition and
treatment of depression and other psychiatric illnesses.  Therefore, TADS
concentrates its efforts on advocacy, funding for school-based suicide
prevention and mental health education programs, and enabling community-based
services.”

Two mental health
professionals will join Steve and Deb for a question & answer session;  Alice Lenhart, MEd, MA, a mental health
counselor at the Counseling Center at Rivier University, in Nashua, NH and Brian
Henderson, LMHC, LMFT, a licensed mental health counselor and marriage and
family therapist practicing in Chelmsford.
