5K for CAD: Conquering Aortic Disease

About this Event Charles "Chuck" Doherty lost his life suddenly last year at age 34 after finishing an ordinary 8-mile run due to complications associated from a bicuspid aortic valve. BAV disease is the most common congenital heart defect, affecting an estimated one out of every 50 people. The Charles A. Doherty Memorial Foundation (CADMF) was established in 2013 to aid efforts to prevent premature deaths arising from this condition by raising awareness and funds dedicated to BAV research. An avid runner, a 5K road race was the perfect way to honor Chuck's memory and fundraise for a great cause at the same time. Proceeds of this USATF-sanctioned event will be donated to the Bicuspid Aortic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.
