The Book Corner: News From the Burlington Public Library

The Burlington Public Library has a wide variety of upcoming programs and events.

The has a bunch of upcoming events and accounts of past events residents can check out. The following is a press release listing what has happened, is currently happening and what is coming soon.

Book Sale -  April  27 - 29

Don’t miss the Friends of the Library Spring book sale! Friday, April 27 through Sunday, April 29join the fun and buy some books at the  "Hit a Home Run with Books"  sale.  Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park at the booksale. On Friday, show your love of baseball and the Red Sox: wear a team shirt or hat and receive a free book!   A special VIP guest from the Lowell Spinners will be visiting Friday morning from 11:30 -12:30. Meet the Canaligator who will be greet patrons. A special baseball raffle will take place throughout the sale as well.

Pricing: All books, CDs, DVDs $1.  Children's paperbacks two for $1. Friends’ members buy 3 get 1 free Friday and Saturday. If you are not yet a member, you can join during the sale and immediately receive this benefit.

  • Friday, April 27 - 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 
  • Saturday, April 28 - 10:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 29 - Buy a Bag Day! 1:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fill a brown paper bag and pay what you think it's worth ($3 minimum), or buy a canvas tote bag for $10 and fill the bag for free! You can buy as many bags of books as you like.

May Basket Raffle Coming Soon!

The ever popular May Basket Raffle will be held again this year!  This fundraiser for the Friends of the Library brings together town organizations, businesses and community in support of the library.  Baskets will be on display beginning May 1. Raffle tickets will be sold from May 1 until May 31.  The May Basket Raffle Drawing will be held Thursday evening, May 31.  Join us for this event and find out right away if you are a winner.

Children’s Programs

  • “Preschool Fun and Games” Thur., May 3, 10:30 am.

For ages 3-5.  Make new friends while playing an active version of a board game.  Great for gaming and social skills!

  • “Story and Craft for Toddlers” Mon., May 7, 11 am.

For ages 18-36 months.

  • “Need 2 Read Book Club” Wed., May 9, 4 pm.

For grades 3-5.  Pick up your copy of The Magic Thief, by Sarah Prineas, now at the YS desk for our May meeting! (Please register at the same time.)  We will have snacks and a book-based activity.

Teen Programs

  • “Game Day” Mon., May 7, 3:45-4:45 pm.
