The Book Corner: New Web Site, Fall Book Sale and Burlington Reads 2013

The Burlington Public Library has a wide variety of upcoming programs and events.

The Burlington Public Library has a bunch of upcoming events and accounts of past events residents can check out. The following is a press release listing what has happened, is currently happening and what is coming soon.

New looks for the Library online:

New Website! The Library site is changing as part of a town-wide website redesign.  We love that we will have the same look and feel as the town’s site. This site is more appealing and easier to search.  It also allows us the opportunity to add new features that will make our “branch library” more robust as we move forward. Our address has not changed, so you can still find us at burlingtonpubliclibrary.org

New Catalog!  An updated and improved version of the Evergreen library catalog was recently released. Many new features that expand what you can do through the catalog have been added.  You’ll see a cleaner, easier-to-navigate interface with improved search speed. You’ll also have the ability to retain your circulation and holds history in your patron account.  For information on these and other enhancements of the catalog visit the MVLC website at www.mvlc.org.

“Burlington Reads”, our community wide reading program, will take place in March of 2013.  I know that seems far away, but in order to plan exciting programs we need to choose the book now.  There are 3 titles up for vote and your input is valuable.  Help us pick the title – visit the library’s website between October 10 and November 4 to cast your vote for the title that most appeals to you.

Friends’ Fall Book Sale - October 26-28

Mark your calendar for the annual Friends’ of the Library Fall book sale which will be held Friday, October 26 through Sunday, October 28. This is a great place to find a bargain – books, CDs, DVDs , and paperbacks are all $1 each and kids' paperbacks are  2 for $1.  There are also some great “specials” at the sale which include one free children's book for children in costume and for members of the Friends, it’s always buy three and get one free! Finally, Sunday is "Buy a Bag" day: all books sold by the bag-full. We provide the bag - you fill it up! Minimum donation $3 per bag. There will be a great raffle as well.
