Bakers ARE urged to register in advance:  you may do so by using the Library's on-line calendar (navigate to Dec. 20 and click on the 'hand' to bring up a registration form), or by calling 781-505-4985.

Bakers should plan to bring food intended to be served at room temperature since no refrigeration is provided.  Bakers should also bring enough of their dessert for 20 people to enjoy a taste, as well as 20 copies of the recipe.  There’s also the opportunity for bakers to introduce their specialty and explain why it is such a treat.  What fun!

Non-bakers can also enjoy themselves.  Sample some treats, get ideas for your holiday celebrations and bring home some recipes to try.

The Burlington Public Library Offers Patrons Access to Morningstar Investment Research Center

The Burlington Public Library is thrilled to be able to offer patrons free access to Morningstar Investment Research Center, a valuable investment information resource. Morningstar is a trusted resource used by thousands of investors and we are proud to include it in the library’s free online resources.

The Morningstar Investment Research Center is an online investment database with information on more than 30,000 stocks, mutual funds, and exchange-traded funds. Designed specifically for libraries and other academic research institutions, it provides independent analysis, industry information, stock charts, and portfolio building tools. The Morningstar Investment Research Center even allows users to build and test a portfolio of investments, by using the portfolio X-ray function that evaluates hypothetical or actual portfolios based on metrics such as risk, allocation and diversification.  Morningstar also offers tutorials in navigating the database, investment education, .and timely articles and videos.

Burlington Public Library cardholders have 24-hour remote access to Morningstar Investment Research Center. With a valid library card, patrons can access current stock and fund information from home or office.   The number of simultaneous users is limited so if you are denied access, just try again later.  Go to our website at www.burlingtonpubliclibrary.org. Choose the Research tab at the top of the page. From the drop down menu, choose Databases, and then choose Business & Finance. Next to Morningstar, click either the In Library or the At Home link. If accessing from outside the library, you will be prompted to input your 14 digit library card number.

Access to our quality subscription databases is available for our patrons at no charge. They contain articles and information that are not available for free on the Internet.

If you have questions, call us at (781) 270-1691 or come to the Reference Department on the second floor of the library or email us at mburef@mvlc.org.
