Question of the Day: Do You Think the Debt Ceiling Agreement Will Pass?

Answer today's question in the Comments section below

On Sunday President Obama and Congressional leaders from both parties agreed to a deal to end the debt ceiling debate.

According to the Washington Post the deal will allow the debt ceiling to be raised by as much as $2.4 trillion, an amount will cover spending until at least after the 2012 election and allow Obama to avoid another debate during this term. The deal includes spending cuts, a key objective of the Republicans, but no new taxes, another sticking point for conservatives during the debate.

Though a deal has been struck amongst the party leaders, it still needs to pass the House and Senate. That vote could happen today and was set to start this afternoon.

Do you think the deal is likely to pass?

It will definitely pass. These folks are all very intelligent (despite how it may seem). The right has successfully made their point. I'm sure they realize that the time for games/gestures is over and passing this thing now is pretty much a necessity.
