Flood Watch Issued for Sunday Night, Monday

As much as 4 inches of rain could fall Sunday night into Monday.

Mother Nature, it seems, will try to make up for the extremely dry start to the year with "torrential rain" starting Sunday evening and continuing into Monday.

At 6 p.m. Saturday, The Boston Channel was predicting that the rain will begin in the Burlington area around 2 p.m. Sunday and continue with the heaviest rainfall through Monday morning.

And the rain forecast has led the National Weather Service to issue a flood watch for Wayland and much of Southern New England.

According to the flood watch, heavy rainfall to the tune of 2 to 4 inches is expected to fall Sunday night into Monday. While flooding of major rivers is unlikely, small streams and areas with poor drainage have prompted the watch.

A flood watch means that there is potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
