Five Things: Halloween Parade, Trick or Treating and the Halloween Weather

Five things happening in Burlington today.

Five Things You Need to Know Today" is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance.

Today is Wednesday, Oct. 31. Here are 5 things you need to know:

  • Cloudy, chance of showers: Looks like a gray Halloween day is in store. According to the National Weather Service we can expect a chance of showers, mainly before 3 p.m. Otherwise mostly cloudy with a high near 63 degrees. Slight chance of showers tonight as well with otherwise cloudy skies and a low around 43.
  • Candy!: Burlington's Trick or Treating is tonight. There is no set time for trick or treating but expect the doorbell to start ringing in the early evening.
  • Halloween parade: The Burlington Public Library is hosting a Halloween parade and storytime at 11 a.m. this morning for children of all ages. Come down in costume, hear a Halloween story and join the ghouls parade around the library. Children will also get a treat.
  • Halloween campfire: The library is also hosting a "Spooky Campfire Tales" event for children over 7 at 4:15 p.m. Come dressed in your Halloween best for an indoor campfire experience and a treat.
  • Facebook showdown: Burlington Patch is taking on Lexington Patch in a Facebook "like" showdown. We are looking to see who can get more likes between now and Nov. 21 (day before the Burlington/Lexington Thanksgiving Day game). Help us beat Lexington by liking our Facebook page today.
