5T: Foam Sword Fun, a Free Student Concert and Letters to Santa

Five things you need to know today.

Five Things You Need to Know Today" is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance.

Today is Friday, Dec. 7. Here are 5 things you need to know:

  • Afternoon showers: Looks like kind of a gray day today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect a chance of rain after 3 p.m. Otherwise mostly cloudy with a high near 45 degrees. Rain tonight with a low around 35.
  • Sword night: Guard Up! Family Swordsmanship & NERF is holding a foam weapon event tonight "Sword Night: Prison Break" starting at 7 p.m. Can you stop the break out and get the rest of the prisoners back in their cells? Foam swords provided. $20/person.
  • Student concert: The Real School of Music is holding a free student showcase concert at 7 p.m. this evening. Tonight the school will be featuring solo and duo performances. Click here for more information and upcoming events.
  • Quilting: The Burlington Public Library is hosting the Quilt Club today from 10 a.m. to noon. The group is open to anyone and is for people who love quilting and want to share ideas with friends.
  • Letters to Santa: Have your kids written letters to Santa? We're looking to make a gallery of letters to the big guy in the red suit written by area children (we think it will be cute). If you're child writes a letter please take a picture and upload it to this story.
