  • Scarface goes to prison: On this day in 1931, famed gangster Al Capone, aka Scarface, lands in prison on tax evasion charges. The gangster committed several crimes, including murder, but only the tax evasion charges managed to stick. Capone’s notorious reputation got him transferred to Alcatraz in California, where he served the rest of his sentence until 1939. Capone would die early, at age 48, in 1947.
