Today is Thursday, Feb. 4. Here are 5 things you need to know:

  • Soak up the sun: The National Weather Service is forecasting more sun today. According to the NWS, temperatures could reach freezing today. But the sunshine will be short-lived as there is another storm predicted for Saturday that could bring rain, freezing rain and… yup, you guessed it… more snow.
  • Calling quilters: The Burlington is meeting from 10 a.m. to noon today at the. The club is for people who love to quilt and want to share ideas with others. It is open to everyone.
  • Hoops: The varsity basketball teams are hosting against Belmont High tonight. The boys start at 5:30 p.m. and the girls take to the courts at 7:00 p.m. Come down and cheer on Burlington's athletes.
  • In case you missed it: We launched a lot of new features this week. On Wednesday we brought you ways to save money around town with our new column and on Thursday listed places where to catch the Superbowl this weekend in the new column. Check out our new content and let us know what you think by emailing Richard.Hosford@patch.com.
  • What is the sign for "banana"?: On this day in 1974, a two-month-old chimpanzee named Nim Chimsky signed his first word using American Sign Language. The 70s were all about chimps, with chimps featured in movies, television and scientific studies. Nim was part of a Columbia University study on language. The groundbreaking chimp lived until 2000, when he died of a heart attack at age 26.
