5 Things: Yom Kippur Festivities, Music Lessons and a Book Disscussion

Today is Wednesday, Sept. 26. Here are 5 things you need to know:

  • Cloudy, chance of showers: Looks like a kind of gray day today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect a chance of showers, mainly after 9 a.m. Otherwise mostly cloudy with a high near 77 degrees. a chance of thunderstorms tonight, otherwise mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. 
  • Yom Kippur: Today is Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year in Jewish religion and culture, and is also known as the “Day of Atonement." Temple Shalom Emeth is holding three services in observation of the holiday. There will be Yom Kippur services at 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. There will also be a Yom Kippur Neilah Service at 4:30 p.m. 
  • 50 Shades discussion: Are you a fan of the popular and alluring romance novel "50 Shades of Grey"? Well, the Burlington Public Library is hosting a discussion on the book from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this evening as part of its "The Last Wednesday Book Group." The talk is free and open to everyone but you will need to reserve a copy today if you don't have on already. 
  • Music lessons: Interested in learning how to play an instrument? Burlington's Real School of Music is currently offering free trial lessons for students interesting in learning about their fall session that runs until Dec. 31. Call today to schedule yours at 888.881.REAL (7325).
