Wegmans, Kings Sites Progressing and Project Now on Social Media

The 3rd Avenue Northwest Park now has Facebook and Twitter accounts and through them we've learned the general opening dates for Wegmans and Kings.

Work on the sites for Wegmans and the Kings bowling alley are progressing as construction has re-started this spring.

As reported on Patch, Wegman's grocery store will be going in at 53 Third Ave. and the Kings bowling alley will be at 52 Second Ave.

Since the last update on the sites, the Wegmans parcel looks a bit further along. Rocks and other obstacles have been removed and a lot of earth has been moved about. The Kings site across the street is still mostly a parking lot but there is machinery making progress. (Check out our pictures of the two sites above).

The Northwest Park project also has entered the realm of social media. There is now a Facebook and Twitter account for the "3rd Ave Burlington" project. Thus far the accounts have not provided much new information but we'll be keeping an eye on them.

Two points of interest, the 3rd Ave. Twitter account (follow by clicking the link) stated that Kings will open in the Fall of 2013. The 3rd Ave. Facebook page (click the link to 'like') stated Wegmans will open in Spring of 2014.

Also, according to a March 27 press release from the Nordblom Company, the company that owns the site, stated Kings Bowl and Nordblom completed a 27,250 square foot lease.

"We are thrilled to welcome KINGS to 3rd Ave," said Todd Fremont-Smith, SVP of Development for Nordblom Company.  "As the leader in bowling-themed entertainment and a place where people come to eat and stay to play, KINGS is a perfect fit for 3rd Ave – the soon to be dining and entertainment Capital of Route 128."

Additional information

Wegmans - Wegmans, which has signed a 30 year lease with Nordblom with options to renew, is planning to build a 135,000 square foot facility with adjacent parking for 800 vehicles. The plans include a 14,000 square foot mezzanine overlooking a food court, an outdoor café and outdoor cooking classes.  Patrons will be able to enter and exit Wegmans from Third Avenue, Fourth Avenue or from Network Drive via Second Avenue.

Kings - The Kings bowling alley will feature a 296-seat restaurant in a 27,000 square foot building and will have 24 bowling alleys. The total occupancy is over 600 people. The location will feature a full bar and at-alley food and drink service. During the daytime Kings will be available for birthday parties. There will also be a function room for business meetings and gatherings.
