Toyota Recalls Corolla and Lexus Models for Faulty Air Bags or Wipers

Toyota recalls more than 1.25 million cars for faulty equipment.

 

The world's top automaker announced Wednesday it is recalling 1.29 million cars for faulty equipment.

The Associated Press is reporting the company is recalling:

  • 907,000 cars, mostly Corollas, due to air bags that can improperly inflate when the vehicle's electronic signals damage a chip in the part that controls the air bags, and
  • 385,000 Lexus IS luxury cars with wipers that can get stuck if there is heavy snowfall.

The story says Toyota has received 46 reports of air bag problems in North America and one from Japan, along with 25 reports of windshield wiper problems.
