They're not going far. But Newbury Comics is on the move.

Newbury Comics Burlington announced on its Facebook page over the weekend that it will be moving from Burlington Mall Road to the Burlington Mall in the near future.

"We here at Newbury Comics - Burlington Store are super-excited to announce we will soon be moving into the Burlington Mall! Be sure to Like this page or sign up for our email newsletter for further updates as they come!," the business wrote in a post that was signed from "Ehab, Cilla, & the Burlington crew."

Representatives from the store interacted with several customers in comments on the Facebook page.

In the comments, employees said that the new location will be a few doors down from Lord & Taylor in the mall, and added that the store's floor space will be slightly smaller than its current location.

The store will follow mall hours, beaning it will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Not all customers are excited by the news. Several commenters wrote that they are upset to see the store moving inside the busy mall.

"Another great store gone into the black hole of malls," wrote Fred J. Robertson. "Sad to see this happen, the mall stores don't even come close to the greatness of their predecessors on the fringe. which is to say, they're really no longer music stores when they move to malls and my chances of visiting one with any regularity dwindle to almost never - love you guys, but gotta say it."

What is your opinion on the news? Are you excited for the new Newbury Comics location, or do you wish they were staying put? Let us know in the comments section below.

That's good. Malls like the Burlington Mall have to diversify in order to survive. Suburban malls are dropping like flies in the age of Amazon and other online retail. It wouldn't be surprising if at least half of the suburban malls in the Boston area close within the next ten years. What they need to do is offer items and services that can't be easily found or aren't practical to buy online and make the visit an experience (that's where Newbury fits in here). The next thing they should do is diversify land use over there (as is being done at NEEP), offer more restaurants, grocery and specialty food stores, build some residential buildings and hotels and other attractions, all within walking distance to the Mall. Burlington should be looking at Glendale, California and the area around the Glendale Galleria as a good example of this.
