Kings Bowl Says It Will Help Place Staff After Huge Blaze

The bowling venue was originally scheduled to open April 28; now it won't open for about a year.

The ownership of the Burlington Kings Bowl said it will find placement for employees after a huge blaze broke out Sunday night.

The bowling and dining venue had been scheduled to open April 28 in the 3rd Ave retail hub. Owner Patrick Lyons said he now hopes to open it within a year.

"We are so grateful to 3rd Ave Burlington (and) the Burlington community for standing by our side and lifting our spirits during this difficult time," the ownership said in a Facebook post. "As for our amazing staff, we will find placement for you until we open our doors. We will rebuild as quickly as possible."

Kings Bowl previously said it was looking to hire 200 workers for its Burlington location.

The two-alarm fire heavily damaged the structure; parts of it collapsed. The cause of the blaze was still under investigation, according to Fire Chief Steve Yetman.

It took firefighters from Burlington and a half-dozen surrounding communities about two hours to bring the blaze under control. At one point, firefighters were ordered out of the building because parts of the structure were about to collapse.

Kings has already been involved in the Burlington community—it was scheduled to host the Burlington High School post-graduation party June 8.
