The new Tavern in the Square in Burlington's New England Executive Park is scheduled to open in April.

Yesterday marked a significant step for a new restaurant coming to town.

Equity Office, one of the largest commercial property owners in New England, held a yesterday at the New England Executive Park off of Mall Road. Many Burlington town officials and former town officials came out to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony.

"We are thrilled to break ground and to commence this project at the New England Executive Park.  We especially thank the town of Burlington and Equity Office -- both of whom were instrumental in helping us make this project come to fruition," said Joey Arcari, Founder of Tavern in the Square. "Tavern in the Square prides ourselves on being an integral part of neighborhoods and communities, which is why we are excited to open our sixth restaurant in the Greater Boston area."

According to Equity Park, the Burlington Tavern in the Square will open in April, and will feature an outdoor patio seating area so that patrons can enjoy an al fresco style of dining. The restaurant will seat 300 guests and have a function room that will hold approximately 40 guests.

The restaurant chain is well known, according to Stephen DeSousa, Managing Partner of Tavern in the Square, for its all-you-can-eat Sunday breakfast buffet. For $15.99 per person, you can select from nearly 30 breakfast items, visit an omelet chef and an ice cream sundae bar.

Prices are moderate with appetizers ranging from $7-$11 and entrees from $14-$15. The location will have 150 parking spaced exclusive to the restaurant and the company expects to be hiring 75 to 100 new employees both part and full time.

"Tavern in the Square will provide Burlington residents and New England Executive Park tenants and visitors a great place to come and unwind, while enjoying a delicious meal, both during the workday and after work," said DeSousa.

New England Executive Park is a 56-acre office campus with 13 buildings totaling 1.1 million square feet.  Majority owned and operated by Equity Office for the past ten years, the park hosts more than 75 global companies within the technology, legal, finance and professional service fields.  Future plans for the Park may also include a possible 250-room full service hotel and a 350,000 square foot Class A build-to-suit office building.

“New England Executive Office Park is booming, and we expect the trend to continue as it offers a range of amenities that is unequalled in the suburban commercial real estate market,” said Andrew Maher, Managing Director of Leasing for Equity Office in Boston.  “Tavern in the Square is a perfect addition to this location, and we are also extremely pleased to offer this service to our tenants.”
