Honda Recalls 600,000 Accords Due to Faulty Hose

Honda is recalling 600,000 Accord midsize cars in the U.S. and Canada because of a faulty power steering hose that can leak fluid and cause a fire, according to the Huffington Post.

The recall affects Accords with V-6 engines from the 2003 through 2007 model years. HuffPo reported Honda has a report of one fire due to the faulty hose, but no injuries or crashes. 

The best thing for vehicle owners to do is contact their local dealership with their vehicle identification number said a local dealer. Herb Chambers Honda of Burlington is at 33 Cambridge St.

"We can confirm any outstanding recalls, schedule an appointment and have them addressed," she said.

The company will replace the hoses for free, but it won't have the parts available until early next year. The company that makes the Accord's power-steering hoses has had to increase manufacturing since the affected cars are more than five model years old and the hoses were out of production, Honda spokesman Ed Miller told HuffPo Monday.

"We're going to start making them and getting them out there as soon as we can," he said.
