Lent is marked by many Christians in the 40-day runup to Easter. This year, Lent starts next Wednesday, Feb. 13 and lasts until the end of March. Often considered a time to practice sacrifice, many Catholics for years gave up eating meat on Fridays.

According to the British newspaper The Daily Mail, McDonald's appears to be targeting more religious consumers with this new Happy Meal version of meatless dining.
