Construction of High End Steak House Coming Along

Work continues at the 3rd Ave. project.

Work is progressing at the 3rd Avenue project and at least one of the incoming restaurants is starting to take shape as a building.

The 3rd Avenue project's Facebook page posted this picture of the construction of the high-end steak house The Bancroft.

"Webber Restaurant Group's newest culinary venture, The Bancroft, is now boasting a ceiling! Mark your calendars - opening April 2014!" the page states.

According to a release from the Nordblom Company, which owns the property, said the new Webber Restaurant Group location will feature locally-grown food.

"It is a pioneer in the farm-to-restaurant movement, being one of the only restaurant groups in the country that includes a farm – the 100-acre Gibbet Hill Farm in Groton – as a part of its organization," the release states.

The Bancroft is a high-end steak house with seasonal, locally-sourced menu options. The restaurant will appeal to the youthful, urban crowd, the release states.

Wegmans - Wegmans, which has signed a 30 year lease with Nordblom with options to renew, is planning to build a 135,000 square foot facility with adjacent parking for 800 vehicles. The plans include a 14,000 square foot mezzanine overlooking a food court, an outdoor café and outdoor cooking classes.  Patrons will be able to enter and exit Wegmans from Third Avenue, Fourth Avenue or from Network Drive via Second Avenue.

Kings - The Kings bowling alley will feature a 296-seat restaurant in a 27,000 square foot building and will have 24 bowling alleys. The total occupancy is over 600 people. The location will feature a full bar and at-alley food and drink service. During the daytime Kings will be available for birthday parties. There will also be a function room for business meetings and gatherings.
