If you're looking to get your Clover fix this week, you're going to have to wait.

The ownership of the Clover restaurant, which opened in late June at 100 Mall Road, announced this week that it would suspend all operations until further notice because of a Salmonela scare.

"We learned late Friday that there is a Salmonela outbreak in Massachusetts," wrote Ayr Muir, founder and CEO of Clover Food Lab in a blog post. "Some of the confirmed cases ate at Clover over the course of the days leading up to their illness."

Muir said the state doesn’t know yet where the Salmonela is coming from and are currently investigating, but since some of the people who ended up sick did consume food from a Clover food truck, the company is suspending operations and is "scouring every surface of every operation," Muir said.

"We are examining our ingredients and suppliers," he said. "We’re going to be extra careful and we’re not opening any location until we learn more."

The restaurant's proactive stance on the issue and its up front and transparent way of dealing with it is garnering praise by customers as seen in comments on the blog post.

A commenter named Ashley said she saw the sign alerting customers to the closing at the new Burlington location.

"Thank you for being willing to take aggressive action on this sort of thing, and thanks for being open about it," she wrote. "This is why we continue to eat at Clover– because we trust you guys to feed us. Some people don’t think about that very hard, and just sort of give that trust away easily. We don’t. I worked in food service in college, he has a public health background. We don’t give that trust easily. We walk out of places with dirty kitchens."

"Thanks for taking the responsible steps. I love Clover and I look forward to your continued growth after this is resolved," a commenter named John added.
