A 'Hole' Hearted and Berry Lovely Valentine's Day

Just because Valentine's Day falls on a Monday; it doesn't mean we have to let the work day get in the way of a full day of quality "love time."  Surprise your loved one with a delicious breakfast in bed this Sunday for Valentine's Day. 

This simple and quick breakfast will sweeten up your sweetheart's day right from the start.  Enjoy this wonderful breakfast in bed; spend the day with your honey and then head out to one of Burlington's most romantic hot-spots for dinner. 

By simply cutting out a heart shape in toast and pairing it with a delightful and vibrant berry compote and a refreshing mimosa, you can show you're not only a hero of the heart but one in the kitchen too!

Hole Hearted Breakfast with A Berry Lovely Compote

What You'll Need:

-Sour dough bread, sliced

-Eggs

-Salt and pepper to taste

-1/2c sugar

-1/2c water

-1c blackberries

-1c strawberries

-1c raspberries

-sprig of fresh mint

-whipped cream

-2tbsps butter

How You'll Do It:

-for the eggs and toast, simply cut out a heart shape in the toast, add butter to your saucepan and drop an egg into the heart shape and fry on both sides, flipping the toast with the egg once

-for the berry compote, in a large saucepan bring your sugar and water just to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes

-add your blackberries and strawberries and simmer on low for 2 minutes

-stir in your raspberries and butter and simmer just until the butter melts; remove from heat and cool slightly

-top with a bit of whipped cream and a sprig of fresh mint

This breakfast is perfectly complemented by a refreshing mimosa and you can even kick up the mimosa by adding a few fresh berries into the glass as well.
