Book Corner: Library Summer Hours, Summer Reading Kick-Off

The Burlington Public Library has a wide variety of upcoming programs and events.

Library Hours

The Library will be closed on Friday, June 14 for a staff development day.

The Library summer hours run from Sunday, June 16 through Labor Day and are as follows:

  • Monday-Thursday - 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Friday- 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Saturday - 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Sunday - closed

 

Storytimes have been suspended until July 2, when we will resume with summer hours (usual hours to return in the fall).

 

Summer Reading Kick-Off

We look forward to seeing you all this summer for another exciting Summer Reading Program.  The kick-off for “Dig Into Reading” will be Thursday morning, June 27, with children’s games, registration, prizes, and a visit from a fun and fascinating Bubbleologist (a fancy word for bubble maker) at 11 a.m.

The Teen kick-off for the “Beneath the Surface” program will be that afternoon at 3 p.m.  We’ll have a variety of events for all ages throughout the summer and numerous opportunities to earn great prizes.  We’ll see you at the library!

 

Massachusetts Book Awards

The Massachusetts Book Awards, a program of the Massachusetts Center for the Book (MCB) in partnership with the Massachusetts Library Association, announces the Must-Read Books of 2013.  Written by Massachusetts authors and/or on Massachusetts subjects and published in 2012, these books hit a wide spectrum of reading tastes and one or more of them in each category will be just right for you and/or your book group.  To see the complete list or to learn more, visit their website at massbook.org or stop by the library.

The Youth Services Department has a display of the titles for children and teens with multiple copies available for check out.  Just ask at the Youth Services desk—you’re bound to find the perfect book to jump start your summer!

 

Batik Bookmarks Tuesday, June 11 at 4 p.m.

Teens, get ready for summer reading by making a batik bookmark with Jenna.  All materials will be provided—just drop in!
