Purple Light Night for Domestic Violence Prevention

Come out and support domestic violence prevention and awareness.

Local domestic violence prevention supports are teaming up with the domestic violence group REACH for a special event Thursday night.

There will be a Purple Light Night for Domestic Violence protection in the Kelly/Murray Wing of the Community Life Center on Center St. on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The event will feature the Silent Witness Exhibit provided by REACH Beyond Domestic Violence.  There will also be purple lights as well as bracelets and a bake sale.

They will be accepting donations that will go directly to REACH to help domestic violence victims and the Community Life Center.

"We will end the ceremony by silently walking with battery candles to the police station," a release states. "We will be lighting a tree with black lights in front of the station to Remember the lives lost, Support those that have left abuse and to bring Hope to those that are still living in violence.  Our hope is that we can help be their voices and show them the light. There is help."
